Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo, is the first Teacher Training institution in Nigeria\\\'s having been established at Abeokuta in 1859, by the Church Missionary Society (CMS) with the name The Training Institution.\\r\\n\\r\\nThe Training institution moved to Lagos in 1867 when Missionaries were expelled from Abeokuta, after the *Ifole Riots* occassioned by disagreements between the Missionaries and the Abeokuta local authorities.
