Dr. Sikiru Morakinyo Raimi is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biology and Integrated Science, Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo, and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) of the University. His appointment as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) was approved by the University’s Governing Council with effect from 19 June 2026, for a two-year tenure.
Born on 27 December 1959 in Oyo West Local Government Area of Oyo State into the Chief Ona-Isokun family, Dr. Raimi began his education at R.C.M. Primary School, Asogo, Oyo, where he studied between 1966 and 1971. He proceeded to Oranyan Grammar School, Oyo, from 1973 to 1978, obtaining his WASCE O’ Level in 1978.
He obtained the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) in Biology and Chemistry from the then Oyo State College of Education, Ilesa (Oyo Campus), in 1983. He subsequently gained admission through Direct Entry to the University of Benin, Benin City, where he earned a B.Ed. (Science) degree in Chemistry in 1987. He proceeded to the University of Ibadan and obtained an M.Ed. in Science Education in 1991 and a Ph.D. in Science Education, with specialisation in Chemistry, in September 2002.
Dr. Raimi began his teaching career during his mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme at Government Secondary School, Ulayi, Otukpo, Benue State, between 1983 and 1984. He was subsequently appointed as a classroom teacher by the Oyo State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), where he served from 1984 to 1990.
In 1990, he joined the then St. Andrew’s College of Education, Oyo, as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Biology and Integrated Science. Through dedication and academic excellence, he rose through the ranks to become a Chief Lecturer (Integrated Science) in 2007. Following the transformation of the institution into an autonomous university, he was redesignated as a Senior Lecturer in Biology and Integrated Science and has continued to contribute to teaching, research and academic development.
Dr. Raimi has taught numerous undergraduate courses and supervised more than 50 undergraduate projects. He has also held several academic and administrative positions. These include Acting Head, Department of Integrated Science (1998–2000); Head, Department of Integrated Science (2000–2004); Director, CMIS (2004–2008); Dean, School of Science (2009–2010); and Desk Officer, TETFund (2014–2016).
Between 2016 and 2020, he served as Assistant Director (Full-Time) Degree Programme, Ekiti State University, in affiliation with Emmanuel Alayande College of Education. He also served as Head of the Department of Integrated Science and has continued to provide academic and administrative leadership at the institution since its attainment of university status in 2023.
His contributions to the development of the institution include serving as a Member of the Governing Council of Emmanuel Alayande College of Education (2009–2011), member of the Ad-hoc Committee on Review of Promotion Criteria (2019–2020), Chairman of the Result Computation and Compilation Committee (1998–2004), and member of the Committee on Resource Verification Exercise, Faculty of Science Education (2023). He also served as the Senate Representative on the First Governing Council of Emmanuel Alayande University of Education.
At the University, Dr. Raimi has chaired and served on several important committees, including the Ad-hoc Committee on the 2026 Governing Council and Senate Retreat, the Ad-hoc Committee on the Preparation of Governing Council and Senate Standing Orders, and the Ad-hoc Committee on Revision of Promotion Guidelines for Academic Staff. He is also a member of the Emmanuel Alayande University of Education Alumni Association and has served as a WAEC Examination Officer.
Dr. Raimi is a member of several professional and scholarly organisations, including the Nigeria Integrated Science Teachers Project, Science Teachers Association of Nigeria, AMINU KANO Academic Scholars Association (AKASA), Science and Technology Awareness Network (STAN), Nigeria Football Referees Association (NRA), and the Ojongbodu Grammar School Governing Board.
Beyond his academic and professional engagements, he has contributed to community development and social organisations. He is a member of the Bright Stars Club, Oyo; Public Relations Officer of Oyo Champions; member of the Oyo Metropolitan Development Association and Oyo Descendants Union; Chairman of Egbe Omo Oyo Tiwa N Tiwa, Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo; and has been involved in other community-oriented organisations.
As a scholar, Dr. Raimi has published more than 70 articles in reputable journals, conference proceedings, edited textbooks and monographs. His scholarly contributions include one standard textbook and four co-authored books. He has also attended more than 40 academic and professional conferences at local, national and international levels.
Dr. Sikiru Morakinyo Raimi is recognised for his extensive experience in teaching, academic administration, institutional development and community service. His appointment as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) reflects his longstanding contribution to the growth and development of Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo, at both the former college and university levels.
