Brief History of the Library

The library of the defunct Emmanuel Alayande College of Education was established in 1982. Its operations commenced precisely on 1st April 1982 at the then St Andrew’s College of Education, Oyo campus. It had its annex at Isokun Campus which commenced operations on the 24th of January, 1986. The Library along with other departments in the College moved to its permanent site at Erelu in 2005. The Library operated a decentralised School Library System between 2005 and March 2008 pending the completion of the Library structure. By April 2008 when Adekunle Ogunmola Library building was completed, the decentralized school libraries system was abolished. Library operations were assembled in the new structure. However, the status quo remains at the Isokun campus as annexure of Adekunle Ogunmola Library.
The Library has two broad Sections: Technical and Readers’ Services which consist of Seven Units namely: Collection Development, Cataloguing and Classification, Circulation, Reference, Serials, E-library and Bindery. Detailed information about the operations of the units is available in the University Library Rules and Regulations. The Adekunle Ogunmola Library attained its current status of a University Library upon the upgrading of the defunct College to a University of Education in August 2023.
